I don't think i have a favorite author. I don't know if that is bad or good. I constantly feel convicted as an English major not having a favorite author. To be completely honest i should be reading more than i am now.
If i had to pick someone that a person would deem "worthy" then i would have to pick George Orwell. I've read two of his books, 1984 and Animal Farm, academically, one book, 1984, i have re-read on my own time. I've always been fascinated with dictators and communism. I can't really explain why, it is just something interesting i enjoy learning about. The fact that Orwell was to incorporate communism and the possible outcomes if we continue to allow these outbursts of communism in our world to happen is surreal and enjoyable to read. Because I've only read two of his books, i can't really say which of all his pieces are my favorite. So for now I'll have to choose 1984, due to the scary vibes i got from reading the book, and the emotions that stirred up during it.

How are you doing at this point in the semester?
Well i'm doing better than i was. I recently got blessed tremendously by God in my finanical area, which drove me the point of tears constantly through the day of its happening. As far as homework goes, i still feel uneasy about Old Testament... Everything else looks fun and interesting, but Old Testament just feels so boring. I try really hard to pay attention in class, but i just can't get intersted. I know that is bad because the class is learning about God, but its so much bulk information and the way it is presented makes it worse. I've also been going to sleep earlier and waking up earlier, except for today i didn't wake up for breakest for the first time in like 10 days. I'm kind of upset with that. I definatly am excited on being able to bless some people when i get my refund check, and i also want to buy a couple of things that i've been with out since i had them stolen here.
Well i am just rambling now, so i guess i'll bring this to a close. All in all i'm not doing horrible, but i definatly want to stay focused. I got such a big bulk of homework and projects out of the way and i don't ever want to accumlate so many of those again.

Free
To be honest, i just want to be caught up with everything. I am slowly doing so, but it is still stressful. I am not full up to par, but i am trying.
What book have i always wanted to read?
Mein Kampf by Adolf Hitler. He sparked a revolution that is sheer madness. Not only that, but he was able to plan it all out and write it down in a book before he did it. Which shows that the man was not crazy, but really believed what he was doing was right. If i could pick at any ones mind, Hitler would be on the top of my list. I am no way saying what he did was right, but the way he did it was genius.
What would I do with an English degree?
I want to use an English degree to become an English teacher. I know that i still have a long way to go as far as composition goes. I want to use it so that i can better my self and help better others. I really want to be that guy who is confident in what he writes, knowing that because of his schooling he is able to write 99% error free.. An English degree will not only help me reach the goal of becoming a teacher, but it will also help support my family which i plan on having :).
What does good writing look like?
Good writing flows, it simply is well structured. Spelling counts to show that the writer went back and took the time to edit what he wrote. Good writing is something that you read and enjoy doing so. Good writing is able to adapt to the reader; good writing is a good read...

What is the best book you ever read?
I am ashamed to say that i don't have the widest of lists when it comes to books i have read. I am making it my goal to read at least five books a semester, but recently i haven't read so much. If i really wanted to be honest and tell you the book that kept my attention and entertained me to the likes of which no book had ever done before. Then i would have to say it was Harry Potter and the Deathly Hollows. Now wait just a minute before you start thinking that this is not "appropriate reading" for Christians. I am able to to pick apart what is fiction and what i actually believe. The book doesn't tell me to go kill people, nor does it tell me to perform magic. Its a fictional story, just like the ones we learn in English Classes. The reason i feel a need to defend is because i have dealt before with Christians who look down upon the books and shun it because of its "witchcraft" theme.
The book it self is an excellent piece of literature that ties in six previous books the author has written. If an author writes well enough to get me to read seven of her books, then well.. enough said. The book changes its whole environment versus its six previous installments which all mainly took place in the Hogwart's school background. The book takes you on a road-trip type of adventure, that leaves no loose ends as far as the plot goes. At the end of this book you feel a feeling of completion, and sadness. The fact that the book it self is the final tale in the series of Harry Potter makes you dumbfounded and a little gasped.
The book is defiantly a good read. If you are unable to read books and now fall into a cultism revolving around the book, then i suggest you don't read it :)
Side Note: Just so we are clear, I'm not writing this to you Mrs. Groves, the directed audience is everyone as if i my blog was getting one million hits a day.

What does an English Major look like?
Could she be a creative English III teacher who is grasping at straws? Pondering the day Oprah calls her up to invite her to talk about her number one seller. Perhaps he is a devoted father, who comes into class sick from seeing his daughter having to face cancer at the age of 9. Does an English Major have dark circles under his eyes and tiredness in his voice; but still able to enlighten the class, who has watched his transformation from a fresh poet to a worried father, about Macbeth. Maybe she is a well rounded Christian woman, dressed in formal attire, preparing her class of five for what the world has to offer.
He could be a nineteen year old freshmen who suffers from intense procrastination. He worries about how he will pay for college each semester, and how much work it will take for him to do so. He could be a she, and she could be a he. The only thing that it can't be is a nothing.
